More and more people are paying attention to what they put on their skin – and that no longer just applies to skincare products, but also to their nails. Terms like vegan, HEMA‑free or TPO‑free are appearing more and more often. But what do they actually mean – and why do they matter for nail products?
At Doonails, we rely on modern, consciously developed formulas: our products are vegan and cruelty‑free – as a brand, we are certified by PETA. Our cosmetic products are dermatologically tested for skin compatibility and our UV products are also HEMA‑free – without complicated application or having to sacrifice design.
100% vegan & PETA‑certified
When we talk about vegan nail products, it’s not just about a single ingredient, but about the entire formula and manufacturing process.
At Doonails, all products are vegan and cruelty‑free. This means that during development and production:
- no animal‑derived ingredients such as keratin, beeswax or carmine are used
- no animal testing is carried out or commissioned
- the products meet the standards of vegan cosmetics
The PETA certification serves as an independent point of reference and confirms that the products are made without animal ingredients and without animal testing. For many consumers this is especially important, because the ingredients in nail products are often not immediately obvious at first glance.
Vegan nail products are therefore ideal for anyone who wants to consume consciously and values transparency and clear criteria when it comes to cosmetics.

What does HEMA‑free mean?
HEMA (hydroxyethyl methacrylate) is an ingredient that can be found in some gel products. It is repeatedly associated with skin reactions in sensitive individuals – which is why many people actively look for HEMA‑free alternatives.
And here at Doonails we have good news for you: our Soft Gel Press Ons are HEMA‑free. These manicure method is particularly suitable for anyone who pays attention to ingredients or prefers an easy, no‑fuss application. In addition, they contain no Di‑HEMA, a chemically related form of HEMA that is also used in some gel products.
Important: HEMA‑free does not automatically mean “allergy‑free”. People with allergies who, for example, react to traditional shellac have so far reported very good tolerance of our Soft Gel Press Ons. Because every allergy is individual, we still recommend weighing up the use carefully and, in case of doubt, talking to a physician beforehand.

Free from TPO
Another term that often raises questions is TPO (trimethylbenzoyl diphenylphosphine oxide). TPO has been banned in cosmetic products in the EU since September 2025. This substance is used in some UV gels and polishes to speed up curing under UV or LED lamps. At Doonails, the rule is crystal clear: none of our products contains TPO.
Our formulas have always been TPO‑free, vegan and cruelty‑free. For you, this means that whether you choose Soft Gel Press Ons or other Doonails products, TPO has never been – and will not be – part of our products.
Dermatologically tested – what it means
The claim "dermatologically tested" appears frequently on cosmetic and nail products – but what’s behind it? At Doonails, it means that the products are tested under professional supervision for their skin compatibility. The aim of these tests is to observe potential skin reactions and assess the products for normal, everyday use.
Being transparent about this is important to us: dermatological tests do not replace medical advice and they are no guarantee that no one will ever experience a reaction. Skin is individual and reacts differently to ingredients, applications and external influences.
These tests are part of our commitment to offer carefully developed nail products which, together with vegan formulas and HEMA‑free product options, make for a conscious and easy‑to‑understand choice.
